Packaging Pop - Branding a new product launch

This small group activity challenges students to think like marketing and design teams within a business. Students will choose a product from a given list and design eye-catching packaging for a new product launch. 

The types of products are: energy drink, noodles, pizza, soft drink, lollies (candy), breakfast cereal, chocolate bar (or they can choose another if they want. 

Students are encouraged to use creative design elements like colour, text, and imagery to make their packaging stand out.

This activity encourages critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork, while reinforcing branding and marketing principles in a hands-on way.

What Students Will Learn

Through this activity, students will:

  • Focus on brand alignment with a company image and ideal customers

  • Explore and discuss how design, colours, images, and text impact how packaging appeals to customers

  • Identify a target market and work to appeal to those customers with the design of their packaging
